Hat Ceremony 2022

Our IB Hat Ceremony on 19 May 2022 was – finally – celebrated live and with parents present. A very festive event after the last few years in the shadow of Covid.

We had another reason making the 2022 Hat Ceremony very special. Due to her retirement after 29 years at Nørre Gymnasium, with 21 years in the school leadership and 17 years as IB Coordinator, this was the last time IB Coordinator Jutta Rüdiger sent off an IB cohort after their years at Nørre Gymnasium.

The IB Coordinator gave her speech to the 2022 IB DP cohort about the importance of personal integrity and accountability, and telling James Thurber’s fable The Rabbits Who Caused All the Trouble -- and wishing the graduates their very own definition of success in life.

Jutta Rüdiger's speech was followed by her presenting the hats to each student, assisted by Nørre Gymnasium's principal, Mette Vedel.

Parnica Srimal giving the Valedictorian Speech thanking the school, teachers, parents, and friends and stating that ‘you can take us out of the IB, but not the IB out of us!’

The students were happy and proud to have come this far, but they were also thankful for the support from teachers and administration helping them get there and showed their appreciation with personalised gifts.

And the Grand Final – the very special Hats in the Air-moment!!!
