The Collaborative Sciences Project

The Collaborative Sciences Project (CSP) gives our 2i IB DP students an opportunity to work together in an interdisciplinary team and to work towards a common goal related to a real-world issue, pursued through the lens of the scientific method. The CSP is a focused opportunity for students to develop a range of IB learner profile attributes.

Throughout the CSP, the emphasis is on the experience of collaborative problem-solving, the focus being the process rather than the product. Working collaboratively in a team requires a certain level of self-awareness and empathy with other team members as well as a high level of motivation and two-way communication.

From this year on, we have changed the outline of the IB Diploma Programme so that the CSP is scheduled before any other larger exam related activities, such as Extended Essay (EE) and Internal Assessment (IA) in the various subjects, which means that our students will develop excellent research skills much earlier, and use these skills on their larger assignments. Another advantage is that the CPS is scheduled shortly before the 2i study trip, and the two activities together will help developing a respectful and joyable class culture with focus on personal and academic growth and development.

As something unique to Nørre Gymnasium we nominate the three best student poster presentations and award the winner with the Niels Bohr Award which comprise a photograph of the famous scientist signed by the three subject teachers and a package of licorice pipes for each student in the group.
