Showband and Choir
Choir
Practice in Nørre G’s choir takes place most Tuesdays from 18:30-21.00 hrs. The choir works with projects - rythmic as well as classical - and is always a central element in the school's musical theatre shows. The choir often participates in inter-school projects with the symphony orchestra Copenhagen Phil and they have gone on their own choir trips, e.g. to Ireland in 2016, Sweden in 2019 and Berlin in 2024. Every year, Nørre's choir has a number of concerts both in the school as well as at other venues (Church, Koncert Hall).
During the intro project, participation in the choir is open. But after this, new singers must go through a short 'audition' to stay in. The choir works mostly a cappella, but also with piano accompaniment. The level is relatively advanced with up to 5-6 parts and selected soloists. Most of the choir's movements are arranged by the two choir leaders Thomas Hammer (TH) and Thomas Lynnerup Jakobsen (TJ). If you want information about the choir, please contact the leaders on Lectio.

Showband
Nørre G’s Showband is a school band, who meet and practice every Tuesday directly after school. The band consists of a rhythm section with guitar, bass, electric piano, and drums as well as a wind section. Some of the school’s best singers also work with the band. At Nørre G we have an ongoing project educating saxophone players including the possibility to borrow the instruments. The new players are, of course, connected to the band as soon as they have the required level of skills.
The band has a comprehensive repertoire – from rock over soul and R&B to disco, everything which naturally includes a wind section. The band arrangements are tailored to the band members at any given time as regards ensembles as well as solos. The band performs at morning assemblies, band nights, café nights, concerts and at larger events at the school. Furthermore, we have recently established an interdisciplinary cooperation with the dance classes.
If you want to know more about the band and your possibilities of participating, you can contact Thomas Lynnerup Jakobsen (TJ) and Thomas Hammer (TH) in Lectio.
