2i Study Trip to the Danish National Aquarium

2i BioHL+SL visited the Danish National Aquarium (“Den Blå Planet”) in Kastrup and were guided behind the scenes by Curator and Technical Manager Lars Skou Olsen who explained how the aquarium can hold both warm and cold fresh- and saltwater in closed systems, and how they can maintain a good enough water quality to be able to grow tropical corals, which are extremely sensitive to any pollutants. After the tour, the class had time to walk around on their own and study the many interesting creatures in the different aquaria, but also walk in the ”jungle” among tropical butterflies, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and sloths, and too see the full scale models of prehistoric sea-monsters.
