Sofie Seizes the Opportunity
- Biology Olympiad at Nørre G
Every year a Biology Olympiad in Denmark is held for ’high school’ students who have a special interest in biology and biotechnology. This year the preliminaries will be held on 8 November 2018 when the students will battle for a place in the semi-final and, following this, for a place on the national team for participation in the International Biology Olympiad. If you are interested in participating in this year’s Biology Olympiad, write an email to Nørre Gymnasium’s contact teacher, Jakob Damgaard (firstname.lastname@example.org)Read more about the event on www.biologiolympiade.dk.
This year, as a prelude to the Biology Olympiad, an extra inspirational course called Seize the Opportunity (Grib Chancen) has been added for 20 of the most talented students in the country. The course runs in two periods; first in August, at Fjord & Bæltcenteret in Kerteminde on Fyn, working with, among other things, dissection exercises and working with diving, and next in October, at the Technical University of Denmark, working with modern molecular biology techniques.
We are very proud that Sofie Krogsgaard, one of our talented students, has just been selected for participation in Seize the Opportunity2018. Sofie is in our 2i class and studies biology at the Higher level in the very demanding IB Diploma Programme offered at Nørre Gymnasium.
